The Islamabad Inspector General announced the revamped of police departments in the capital.

Islamabad’s police chief, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, convened meetings with senior police officials at the Central Police Office to discuss reforms in various departments. These include the Investigation Wing, Special Protection Unit, Anti-Riot Unit, Counter-Terrorism Department, and Special Branch.

Heads of these units presented their reports on proposed reforms, which were reviewed by the IG Islamabad, who then issued further instructions.

The IG emphasized the need to modernize the investigation process to keep up with the changing times. He announced upcoming orders for the reorganization of the Investigation Wing.

The aim of these reforms is to ensure timely and merit-based investigations, to strengthen the criminal justice system, and to combat crime effectively.

Meetings were also held with Senior Superintendent of Traffic Police Mohammad Sarfraz Virk and SSP Safe City Shoaib Khan to review progress in improving the traffic system. Orders were given to expedite actions against traffic violations using e-challan and Safe City cameras.

SSP Investigation will oversee all investigations, with three SPs, six DSPs, and 27 fully empowered investigation officers.

The Counter Terrorism Department’s intelligence wing will be reinforced, and its investigation wing will be digitized and reorganized similarly to the Punjab CTD.

The Special Branch will also undergo digitization, with specialized units established for better results.

The Anti-Riot Unit will be expanded to 1,000 personnel, equipped with modern gear and provided with modern training to handle riot situations effectively.
