Sindh Government Takes Over Sarim Burney Welfare Trust Following Child Trafficking Allegations

The Sindh government has assumed responsibility for the administration of the Sarim Burney Welfare Trust following a request from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The Directorate General of the Social Welfare Department issued an official notification to this effect, prompted by concerns raised by the FIA regarding allegations of child trafficking involving Sarim Burney.

Earlier, the FIA took action by arresting Sarim Burney, a prominent human rights activist based in Karachi, immediately upon his arrival at Karachi Airport. The charges against him allege that he was involved in the unlawful transportation and facilitation of the adoption of 17 children in the United States.

The case has attracted significant attention due to its implications for child welfare and international legal ramifications. Sarim Burney, known for his advocacy work in human rights and welfare, now faces legal proceedings related to these serious allegations.
