PTI Leaders Confused Over Controversial X Post on Fall of Dhaka Incident

After a controversial video regarding the Fall of Dhaka incident was posted on the official X handle of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, the party’s leaders appeared divided on whether to endorse or reject the post.PTI lawmaker Ali Muhammad Khan claimed on Friday that Imran Khan was unaware of the post and would personally approve social media content in the future. He clarified that Imran’s perspective should be understood politically and that the party was not interested in revisiting the 1971 incident but aimed to avoid repeating past mistakes. However, party leaders exhibited confusion, with some defending Imran’s post. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan stated the video was shared in the current political context. PTI Central Information Secretary Raoof Hasan initially called for an investigation but later retracted his statement. MNA Zain Qureshi confirmed that social media posts were approved by Imran and aligned with party policy.Facing criticism, the PTI core committee rejected the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) probe into the post, considering it unwarranted. The controversial post suggested that Pakistanis should study the Hamood ur Rahman Commission Report to understand the true traitor during the Fall of Dhaka. The FIA’s cybercrime wing initiated an action against Imran, but he refused to meet with the agency’s team.
