PM Reviews Final Steps for Pak Public Works Department Closure, Orders Fair Employee Compensation

On Sunday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting to review the legal aspects and finalize procedures for the closure of the Pak Public Works Department (PakPWD).

The prime minister emphasized that the financial package for employees laid off due to the dissolution will not apply to those found guilty of serious corruption charges. He also directed that a comprehensive plan for transferring ongoing PakPWD projects to the provinces and relevant departments should be submitted soon. Additionally, PM Shehbaz instructed that all final recommendations regarding the closure of PakPWD be presented to the cabinet.

In a move to support dedicated workers, the prime minister approved an age relaxation proposal to re-employ hardworking and honest individuals with short service periods in PakPWD.
