BEIJING: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to advancing the security and development cooperation agenda of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

During a meeting with the secretary-general of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Dar emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the SCO Charter and the principles of the ‘Shanghai Spirit.’

Highlighting the significant potential of the SCO region, Dar stressed the collective responsibility of member states to collaborate effectively for the sustained progress and prosperity of the entire SCO region.

The discussion also covered Pakistan’s initiatives and contributions during its ongoing chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of Government.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar arrived in China for a four-day visit, mainly to co-chair the fifth Pakistan-China foreign ministers’ strategic dialogue with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Upon arrival, he was received by Director General Ambassador Wang Fu Kang and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi.

During the strategic dialogue, the two sides will comprehensively review bilateral relations, including economic and trade cooperation, high-level exchanges and visits, the upgradation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, future connectivity initiatives, and the geopolitical situation.
