President Asif Ali Zardari Announces National Awards on Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day: Recognition for 104 Outstanding Pakistani and Foreign Nationals Across Multiple Fields

On the occasion of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, President Asif Ali Zardari announced the conferment of prestigious national awards to 104 individuals, both Pakistani and foreign nationals, in recognition of their remarkable contributions and services to Pakistan. These awards, honoring excellence across various fields such as science, engineering, education, medicine, arts, literature, sports, public service, and more, will be presented at a special ceremony on March 23, 2025.

Honoring Public Service and National Contribution:

  • Nishan-e-Pakistan: The nation’s highest civil award was posthumously conferred upon Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, former President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, in recognition of his unparalleled public service and dedication to the country.

Celebrating Sporting Achievements:

  • Hilal-i-Imtiaz: Awarded to Olympian Arshad Nadeem, who brought pride to Pakistan by securing a gold medal in the Paris Olympics.
  • Sitara-i-Imtiaz: Conferred upon mountaineer Murad Sadpara for his significant contributions to sports and mountaineering.

Acknowledging Excellence in Science, Education, and Medicine:

  • Hilal-i-Imtiaz: Recognizing scientific excellence, awards were given to Amir Hafeez Ibrahim, Dr. Shahryar, and Dr. Zaryab Setna. In the education sector, Sadia Rasheed was also honored with the Hilal-i-Imtiaz.
  • Sitara-i-Imtiaz: Presented to Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali, Sardar Muhammad Aftab Ahmed Khan, and other notable figures in science and education.
  • Tamgha-i-Imtiaz: Conferred on Dr. Sara Qureshi, Dr. Rafiuddin, Professor Dr. Usman Qamar, and several others for their contributions to science and medicine.

Recognizing Contributions in Arts, Literature, and Social Services:

  • Sitara-i-Imtiaz: Awarded to prominent artists like Collin David and Salman Awan for their artistic achievements.
  • Hilal-i-Imtiaz: Given posthumously to Nasir Kazmi for his literary contributions.
  • Pride of Performance: Fariha Pervaiz, Hamid Rana, and other cultural figures were recognized for their excellence in arts and literature.

Saluting Gallantry and Bravery:

  • Hilal-i-Shujaat: Posthumously awarded to Sub Inspector Taimur Shehzad Shaheed and other brave individuals who sacrificed their lives in service to the nation.
  • Sitara-i-Shujaat and Tamgha-i-Shujaat: Conferred on Malik Sabz Ali Shaheed, Captain Hamza Anjum (Retd), and others for their extraordinary acts of courage.

Honoring International Contributions:

  • Hilal-i-Pakistan: Bestowed upon Saudi Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman Al Saud for his significant services to Pakistan.
  • Sitara-i-Quaid-e-Azam and Sitara-i-Pakistan: Awarded to foreign dignitaries including Fu Zhiheng and Majid bin Abdullah Al Kassabi for their support and contributions to Pakistan’s development.
