Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has expressed uncertainty regarding the future of the current government, stating that it lacks public support, as reported by PressTonight. Speaking to the media after meeting with PML-Q President and former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Fazlur Rehman refrained from making any predictions about the government’s longevity.
Also present at the meeting was Shafay Hussain, Punjab minister and Shujaat’s elder son. Fazlur Rehman’s interaction with Chaudhry Shujaat followed closely on the heels of his discussions with President Asif Ali Zardari. As the leader of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), Fazlur Rehman has encountered divisions within the alliance, particularly since the February 8 general elections, and has even found common ground with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
