The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has completed the profiling of 113,908 non-custom paid (NCP) vehicles across 15 districts, as it prepares for a province-wide registration initiative. This effort includes plans to register NCP vehicles in the former tribal districts and the Malakand division, where unregistered cars have been in use for decades.
While some of these vehicles have been linked to criminal activities, including terrorism, the primary goal is to bring them into the tax net. Under the government’s scheme, only vehicles that have been profiled will be eligible for registration. Vehicles that have been lifted, snatched, tampered with, or involved in unlawful activities will not be considered for profiling or registration.
The government has set a timeline of three months to complete the regularization process after receiving approval from federal or provincial authorities. Additionally, the scheme allows for the regularization of up to three vehicles against a single CNIC.
