Federal Minister Ataullah Tarar Visits CDA for Independence Day Preparations

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, Culture, and Heritage Ataullah Tarar visited the headquarters of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday to assess the preparations for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, known as “Azadi Fest,” scheduled for August 14.

Minister Ataullah Tarar received a warm welcome from Chairman CDA Mohammad Ali Randhawa upon his arrival.

A meeting, led by Federal Minister Ataullah Tarar, was convened to discuss the plans for the Independence Day festivities. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), the Administrator of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), and senior CDA officials.

During the meeting, the goals of “Azadi Fest” were outlined, focusing on rekindling patriotism among Pakistanis. The planned activities include a flag-hoisting ceremony, musical concerts, a food festival, cultural exhibitions, variety shows, and fireworks. Additionally, for the first time, a drone show will be featured in the celebrations.

Special plans for the city’s renovation and branding to reflect the festive spirit were also discussed. The official mascot of Islamabad, MarGo (with “Mar” representing Margalla and “Go” symbolizing prosperity), will play a significant role in these branding efforts.

The meeting also addressed the participation of the corporate and private sectors, which will be invited to sponsor various activities such as musical concerts, lighting arrangements, tree plantation drives, city branding, and the drone show. Event sponsors will receive special opportunities, including free space and facilities, to promote their brand image in conjunction with their support for the celebrations.

Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa expressed his gratitude to Federal Minister Ataullah Tarar for his visit and support. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in ensuring the success of the Independence Day celebrations, aiming to make Azadi Fest a memorable and grand event for all citizens.
