As the nation celebrates the return of Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s ace javelin thrower and gold medalist from the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) has firmly denied rumors about taxing the athlete’s prize money.

“Rumors of taxing national hero Arshad Nadeem’s prize money are baseless. No tax will be charged on the prize money received by him,” stated FBR spokesperson Bakhtiar Muhammad in a clarification issued on Saturday. He emphasized that neither withholding nor income tax would apply to the funds awarded to Nadeem.

This statement from the FBR comes in response to social media speculation suggesting that the Olympic champion might be required to pay taxes on his prizes. The tax authority’s swift denial aims to put these rumors to rest, ensuring that the nation’s hero receives his rewards without any financial deductions.
