ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar announced on Wednesday the formation of an inquiry committee to investigate the recent mob violence in Bishkek, where Pakistani nationals, including students, were attacked.
The committee, led by Additional Secretary Administration Muhammad Saleem, has been tasked with investigating the incidents and is expected to submit its report within two weeks.
The violence, which occurred last week, resulted in injuries to at least five Pakistani students. The unrest was triggered by a harassment incident on May 13 involving Egyptian students in Kyrgyzstan’s capital.
In response to these events, Dar visited Bishkek to address the concerns of Pakistani students, who, along with other foreign nationals, were victims of the attacks. Pakistan has intensified efforts to evacuate its students from Bishkek, with over 3,000 students having returned home so far.
During his visit, Deputy Prime Minister Dar held an extensive meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Kulubaev Zheenbek Moldokanovich, to discuss the situation and the safety of Pakistani nationals.
