Residents of Sindh and Balochistan are expected to face low gas pressure due to a leakage in one of the feeder lines supplying gas to the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), as announced by the company on Monday.
In a statement, SSGC reported that a Gambat GPF IV feeder line had developed a leakage, resulting in a gas shortage of 38 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) in the system. A team from Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has been dispatched to repair the pipeline, with the work expected to be completed within 20 hours.
“Due to this reason, some areas in Sindh and Balochistan will face low gas pressure. Inconvenience is regretted,” SSGC stated.
In a related effort to enhance gas pressure and supply, SSGC has been implementing a gas pipeline augmentation and expansion plan in Karachi and surrounding areas. The company recently commissioned two key projects: a pipeline from Sheedi Goth to Future Colony and another from Azeempura to Jam Sadiq Ali Bridge.
SSGC Managing Director Imran Maniar reaffirmed the company’s commitment to improving gas supply and pressure in the affected regions.
