US State Department Vows to Prevent Terrorist Attacks from Afghanistan

In response to a recent United Nations Security Council (UNSC) report revealing the use of Afghan soil for terrorism, the US State Department emphasized its commitment to ensuring Afghanistan never serves as a launching pad for terrorist attacks against the US or its allies.

State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel addressed the issue during a press conference on Thursday. Patel reiterated the US’s stance, stating, “Daesh-K is a transnational terrorist network that has the ambition and capacity to launch international terrorist attacks.”

He highlighted the US’s “whole-of-government approach” to counterterrorism efforts in Afghanistan, emphasizing cooperation with partners and allies in the region. The US is working diligently to prevent the resurgence of external threats from Afghanistan, including efforts to counter terrorist recruitment.
