Tragic Suicide Bombing in Kabul Leaves Six Dead and 13 Injured

KABUL: A devastating suicide bombing occurred in the Afghan capital on Monday, resulting in the deaths of six civilians, including a woman, and injuries to 13 others, according to Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran.

The attack took place in the southern Kabul area of Qala-e-Bakhtiar, where a bomber detonated explosives strapped to his body. The explosion caused significant casualties, with six people losing their lives and 13 more wounded in the blast.

Zadran confirmed the details of the attack on the social media platform X, stating, “This afternoon, a person wearing explosives on his body detonated. Unfortunately, six civilians, including a woman, were killed, and 13 others were injured.”

Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, the incident has raised concerns about the ongoing security situation in Afghanistan. Despite a decrease in violence since the Taliban’s takeover in 2021, the country continues to face threats from the regional chapter of Islamic State, known as Islamic State Khorasan. This group has been responsible for several attacks targeting civilians, foreigners, and Taliban officials across Afghanistan.

Investigations into the bombing are currently underway as authorities seek to uncover more details about the perpetrators and their motives.
