Sindh Government Allocates Rs330 Million to Combat Outlaws in Katcha Area

The Sindh government has allocated Rs330 million in funds to law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to strengthen operations against outlaws in the Katcha area. These funds are directed towards enhancing police capabilities in the riverine areas of Sindh, particularly in Shikarpur, Ghotki, and Kashmore districts. The funds will provide modern facilities to policemen, reward informers, and support the ongoing crackdown on dacoits.

Sources in the Central Police Office revealed that the Rs330 million allocation will be distributed to the SSPs of the aforementioned districts to facilitate operations. The funds will also be used to reward informers who provide crucial information during the ongoing operation against bandits in the Katcha area. Additionally, the DIGs of the Sukkur and Larkana ranges will have access to these funds to bolster their respective operations.

Police Operation and Strategy in the Katcha Area

Sindh’s Inspector General (IG) of Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon, confirmed that the police operation against dacoits in the Katcha area is continuing with significant success. The IG highlighted that incidents of kidnapping for ransom have seen a marked decline in the districts of Kashmore, Ghotki, and Shikarpur. In the past three months alone, the police have rescued more than 15 hostages and neutralized over 10 bandits in encounters.

The IG also revealed that the police strategy in the riverine areas has been revamped. Key measures include the installation of barriers at entry and exit points to prevent bandits from escaping across provincial borders. Over 100 police posts have been established, and a Rapid Response Force (RRF) has been deployed at the border areas between Sindh and Punjab to prevent criminals from fleeing.

Enhanced Law Enforcement Measures

To further improve law and order, the DIGs of the Sukkur and Larkana ranges have been tasked with overseeing operations in their regions. The SSPs of four key districts—Sukkur, Ghotki, Kashmore, and Shikarpur—have been given specific responsibility for intensifying the crackdown on criminal elements operating in the riverine areas.

Modern technology is also playing a critical role in the operation. Police forces are now utilizing drones, in addition to modern weaponry, to track and target criminal hideouts. The use of drones has already led to significant successes, including the killing of 10 robbers and the identification and destruction of numerous hideouts.

With these strengthened efforts and funding, the Sindh government aims to reduce criminal activities in the Katcha area, improve security, and restore law and order in the region.
