In a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Razmak, North Waziristan, security forces killed eight terrorists, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday. The operation, conducted on the night between September 25 and 26, was initiated on the “reported presence” of terrorists in the area. During the operation, an intense exchange of fire occurred between the troops and the terrorists, referred to as “Khawarij” by the ISPR, resulting in the elimination of eight militants.

The military’s media wing further disclosed that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists, who had been actively involved in operations against security forces and in the targeted killing of civilians. A sanitisation process of the area is ongoing to clear any remaining terrorists, as security forces remain steadfast in their mission to eradicate terrorism from the country.

Army Chief Reiterates Support for KP Police

The operation in North Waziristan follows remarks made by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir during a visit to Wana, South Waziristan, where he highlighted the Pakistan Army’s commitment to supporting law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police in strengthening their capacity to counter terrorism. General Munir stressed the Army’s role in ensuring the prosperity and development of the people of KP while continuing its counter-terrorism efforts.

Last week, in two separate operations in North and South Waziristan, six soldiers were martyred, and 12 terrorists were killed. Security forces had engaged with a group of terrorists attempting to infiltrate Pakistan via the Afghanistan border, reinforcing the ongoing efforts to maintain security in the region.
