SBCA Identifies Illegal Use of Parking Spaces in 31 City Buildings

The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has identified 31 buildings in the city capable of providing parking space for around 5,000 vehicles, according to a report prepared on the orders of the city’s Commissioner, Syed Hassan Naqvi, aimed at improving traffic flow.

The SBCA survey revealed that these commercial and trade centers are being illegally used for purposes other than parking. The report highlights that if these spaces are dedicated solely to parking vehicles, the city’s traffic issues would be significantly alleviated, and citizens would have easier access to parking facilities.

The findings indicate that the parking areas of all 31 buildings are currently being used for commercial activities. Specifically, at least 20 buildings have converted their parking spaces into shops, godowns, and other commercial uses.
