Eminent religious scholar and public speaker, Dr. Zakir Naik, arrived in Pakistan on Monday at the invitation of the government. His visit, which will extend until October 28, includes public gatherings in multiple cities, leading Friday prayers, and meetings with senior government officials.
Dr. Naik, who confirmed his Pakistan tour on social media alongside his son, Shaikh Fariq Naik, is scheduled to address public talks in Karachi on October 5 and 6, followed by sessions in Lahore on October 12 and 13. He will then proceed to Islamabad, where public gatherings will take place on October 19 and 20.
Upon his arrival, Dr. Naik was welcomed by PM’s Youth Programme Chairman Rana Mashhood, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Dr. Syed Attaur Rehman, Parliamentary Secretary for Religious Affairs Shamshir Ali Mazari, and other officials.
Dr. Naik, who has been residing in Malaysia for several years, where he holds permanent residency, is wanted in India over allegations of money laundering and inciting extremism. Despite these charges, he continues to engage in global public speaking and religious outreach activities.
