Following forecasts of rain, parts of Karachi have received light showers amid sweltering high temperatures preceding the monsoon season. Areas such as North Karachi, New Karachi, North Nazimabad, Garden, Lyari, Sadar, old-city areas, and Gulshan reported light rain.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted further rain or drizzle in certain areas due to clouds in the north-eastern parts of Karachi. Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz anticipated heavier rain in suburban areas on June 22 or 23, specifically around the Super Highway, and noted the possibility of “more than normal” rains in Sindh, including Karachi.
After enduring dry and hot weather for the past few weeks, the weather pattern in Sindh has shifted. Areas like Larkana, Shikarpur, Shahdakot, and Jacobabad experienced rain with thunderstorms today.
Additionally, the chief meteorologist indicated that the monsoon season is expected to commence in Sindh around July 5 or 6, while it may start in Punjab and Kashmir from June 29 or 30.
