Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Sunday that significant progress is being made on the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with positive momentum in various fields of cooperation with China during the visit of Chinese experts to Pakistan.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation of journalists who had returned from an official visit to China, PM Shehbaz emphasized China’s steadfast friendship and support to Pakistan in times of need. He noted the recent agreement with President Xi Jinping to upgrade CPEC and advance its development in its second phase.
PM Shehbaz urged all stakeholders to rise above politics and collaborate on national development projects like CPEC. He expressed gratitude for the exemplary hospitality shown by the Chinese leadership and people during his recent visit to China and stated that he is personally monitoring the progress on memorandums of understanding and agreements made during the visit.
The prime minister assured that Pakistan is taking all necessary measures to ensure the security of Chinese nationals in the country, emphasizing that there is no place for political considerations in Pakistan’s relations with China.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar was also present at the meeting. The delegation of journalists included Salman Ghani of Dunya News, Amir Mir, Shiraz Hussain of Hum News, Khizar Hayat of Daily Jang, Khalid Hasnain from Dawn News, Azam Malik of Geo News, and Matiur Rehman of Pakistan Television.
The journalists shared their experiences from the visit and expressed their views on Pakistan-China relations. They reported that China highly values its ties with Pakistan and praised the prime minister for his business and investor-friendly policies. The delegation noted the Chinese officials’ appreciation for the pace of work on CPEC projects and their enthusiasm for Pakistan-China economic cooperation, often referring to “Shehbaz Speed” as a testament to the prime minister’s effective reform agenda.
