In a significant step towards enhancing bilateral trade, Pakistan and Tajikistan have agreed to export 40,000 metric tons of sugar to Tajikistan, as reported by PressTonight. The agreement, facilitated by Pakistan’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), was formalized during a meeting between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, and Tajikistan’s Director of State, Ahmadzoda Nurmuhammad Atto. Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir, was also present at the meeting.
The deal was made possible through cooperation between Pakistan’s Trading Corporation, the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association, and Tajikistan’s State Material Reserve.
Additionally, both nations have agreed to establish a joint working group aimed at strengthening trade relations, with a special focus on food commodities. They also discussed the potential of setting up warehouses on both sides of the border to streamline future trade operations.
