Man Charged with Threatening US Vice President Kamala Harris Online

A man has been charged with making violent threats online against US Vice President Kamala Harris, just days after she launched her presidential campaign.

Frank Carillo was charged in federal court in Virginia on Friday for threatening Harris through a series of posts on the social media platform GETTR, according to court records.

Harris is the Democratic candidate set to face Republican former president Donald Trump in the presidential election on November 5.

One of Carillo’s posts read, “(Kamala) Harris needs to be put on fire alive […] I will do it personally if no one else does,” as cited in court documents. Another post stated that Harris would “regret ever trying to become president.”

These threats were made on July 27, six days after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek re-election and endorsed Harris as the Democratic candidate.

The account also included threatening messages targeting President Biden and FBI Director Christopher Wray.
