Futuristic environmentally friendly power plant of the future in the ocean, Revolutionizing Water Energy Systems with Full Automation. Efficiency and Comfort of Fully Automated Modern Water Energy Systems

KARACHI: Sindh has inaugurated Pakistan’s first and one of the world’s largest 550MW floating solar energy projects on Kinjhar Lake.

Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah highlighted the significance of this project in realizing affordable electricity, aligning with the vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The memorandum of understanding for the project was signed between the Department of Energy and Go Energy (Private) Limited, attended by Secretary Energy Musaddiq Ahmed Khan, CEO-STDC Salim Shaikh, CEO-Go Green Amar Ali Talat, and Director K-Electric Haris Siddiqui.

Energy Minister Syed Nasir Shah emphasized the environmental benefits of the project, including reduced water evaporation and conservation of land, promoting green energy in Sindh. He underscored the economic boost expected through job creation and the project’s role in achieving sustainable development goals.

Secretary Energy Musaddiq Ahmad Khan affirmed the government’s commitment to delivering affordable and eco-friendly electricity through various initiatives, including mini-grid stations in remote areas. He highlighted that electricity from the floating plant is projected to cost Rs. 15 per unit, significantly lower than other conventional power plants.

STDC CEO Salim Shaikh assured reliable transmission, noting minimal line losses compared to standards set by NEPRA. Go Energy CEO Amar Ali Talat praised the collaborative effort behind the project and its innovative approach, leveraging Kinjhar Lake’s status as the world’s largest clean water lake.

Experts from Singapore contributed insights to the project, expected to conserve a significant portion of the lake’s water. The project aims for completion by the end of 2026, promising a milestone in sustainable energy development for Pakistan.

The MoU signing marks a pivotal step towards realizing cleaner and more accessible energy for Sindh, propelled by the collective efforts of stakeholders and governmental support.
