Lahore Experiences Severe Pollution as Temperature Drops to 3°C

LAHORE: On Thursday, Lahore’s temperature plummeted to 3°C, while the city’s air quality worsened significantly, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching a hazardous 291. According to data from IQAir, this level of AQI falls under the “very unhealthy” category, posing serious health risks to residents.

Lahore has now topped the list of the world’s ten most polluted cities, with IQAir data revealing that the PM2.5 concentration in the city is 43.2 times higher than the World Health Organization’s annual guideline for safe levels. The high concentration of PM2.5 particulate matter, combined with the cold weather, has exacerbated the city’s pollution crisis, severely impacting air quality and public health.

This alarming situation highlights the urgent need for improved air quality management and long-term solutions to address Lahore’s chronic pollution problem.
