Karachi Braces for Rain as PMD Forecasts Potentially Strongest Monsoon Spell

As monsoon conditions persist across the country, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted scattered drizzle and rain in Karachi this evening or night. The Met Office has also indicated that the city’s weather will remain hot and humid over the next 24 hours, with maximum temperatures expected between 34°C and 36°C.

Currently, the city is experiencing humidity levels of 78% and winds at 14 kilometers per hour, with a recorded minimum temperature of 28.5°C.

The PMD’s forecast follows a prediction of light to heavy showers in Karachi from Tuesday to Thursday. Weatherman Owais Haider, speaking to Geo News on Sunday, cautioned that rain could hit the suburban areas of Karachi today (Monday). He also warned that the threat of urban flooding is significant, as this upcoming rain spell could be the most intense of the monsoon season.
