Sindh’s Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah marked a significant milestone in the province’s history as he inaugurated the distribution of Solar Home Systems (SHS) to low-income households in Larkana and Malir districts. In his speech, the Minister emphasized the importance of this initiative in promoting socio-economic sustainable development and reaffirmed the Sindh government’s commitment to transparency and inclusivity.
“Today is a great day for us in the history of Sindh province,” declared Nasir Hussain Shah, highlighting the monumental significance of the event. He assured the public that the selection of beneficiaries for the Solar Home Systems was conducted transparently, utilizing data from the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) registry. “We have chosen the low-income households transparently,” he emphasized, ensuring that the program benefits those who need it most.
The Sindh government, in its ongoing efforts to bring sustainable energy solutions to the people, will provide Solar Home Systems, including necessary appliances, to eligible families. To ensure the quality and reliability of these systems, the government has partnered with three leading international firms for the supply of solar home system kits. The first batch of 50,000 SHS kits has already been released, marking a significant step forward in the province’s green energy agenda.
Nasir Shah also highlighted the Energy Department’s commitment to international standards in green energy initiatives. “The Department of Energy is taking green energy initiatives internationally,” he stated, underlining the broader impact of Sindh’s renewable energy projects on the global stage.
In addition to the Solar Home Systems, the Minister noted that various other energy projects, including the development of Thar Coal, are progressing under the supervision of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. These projects are part of a comprehensive strategy to ensure socio-economic uplift and sustainable development across the province.
“Our efforts are not limited to the distribution of solar systems,” Nasir Shah concluded. “We are working hard for socio-economic sustainable development.” The Minister’s speech at the ceremony underscored the Sindh government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its citizens through innovative and sustainable energy solutions.
