Efforts Underway to Repair Flood-Damaged Road in Kumrat Valley; Full Restoration May Take a Month

Restoration work is currently in progress to repair the road in Kumrat Valley that was severely damaged by floods three days ago.

An official stated that the road from Barikot to Thal is expected to be reopened for traffic by Sunday evening or Monday. However, the restoration of the road from Thal to Kumrat, which suffered extensive damage due to heavy rainfall and flash floods in the area, may take up to a month.

Deputy Commissioner Naveed Akbar visited the flood-affected areas and instructed authorities to commence repair work immediately, with the goal of reopening the roads for traffic as soon as possible. In the meantime, the district administration and tourism authority have advised tourists to avoid traveling to Kumrat until the road is fully restored to prevent any further complications.
