The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) announced on Sunday that the effects of the cyclonic storm “Asna” have largely dissipated as the storm has moved far away from Karachi’s coastline. The city, which had been on alert due to the approaching storm, can now expect a return to calmer conditions.
According to the Met Office, while the storm has significantly weakened, Karachi may still experience some residual weather effects. Light rain or drizzling is anticipated due to the prevailing overcast skies. The system that had brought rain and strong winds to the region has now subsided, with wind speeds also decreasing.
On Sunday morning, winds in Karachi were recorded blowing from the northeast at a moderate speed of 12 kilometers per hour, indicating a significant reduction in the intensity of gusts that had previously accompanied the storm.
The PMD’s update comes as a relief to the residents of Karachi, who had been bracing for potential disruptions due to the storm. With “Asna” moving away and its impact diminishing, the city’s weather is expected to stabilize further in the coming days.
