The City of London Police has decided not to pursue any action following a complaint lodged by the Pakistan High Commission in London regarding an alleged attack on retired Justice Qazi Faez Isa and the High Commission’s diplomatic car outside the Middle Temple on October 28. The complaint accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists of being involved in the incident, but police have determined that there is insufficient evidence to take further action.
The Pakistan High Commission had filed the complaint after receiving instructions from the Foreign Office, requesting the police to review footage of the alleged incident and identify those responsible. However, a source familiar with the investigation stated that the police found no grounds for action, and the case has now been closed.
The incident occurred when PTI protesters stopped and banged on Justice Isa’s car as he was leaving the Middle Temple, where he had just been appointed Master Bencher. The footage of the altercation quickly went viral, showing Isa and his wife attempting to shield their faces while PTI supporters surrounded and pounded on the vehicle.
In response to the incident, a Note Verbale was sent by the Pakistan High Commission to the UK’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) on October 29, requesting assistance from diplomatic police. A copy of the note was also sent to the British High Commission, and several days later, four police officers visited the Pakistan High Commission for further inquiries and were briefed on the matter. Despite these efforts, the police concluded that there was not enough evidence to proceed with any charges.
