Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Addresses National Assembly: Calls for Unity, Accountability, and Respect for Democratic Institutions

In a powerful address to the National Assembly today, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari extended his warm congratulations to Makhdoom Tahir Rashid ud Din on becoming a member of the National Assembly. He expressed his deep gratitude to the people of Punjab, particularly those of Rahim Yar Khan, for their unwavering support of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and for rejecting the politics of hate and division.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari commended the South Punjab organisation of the PPP for their tireless dedication, attributing their success to their connection with the people and their ability to fight every form of ‘fitna.’ He proudly highlighted that the PPP candidates were fully transparent, able to present Form 45 from every polling station, showcasing the legitimacy of their victories.

Chairman Bilawal emphasised the pressing need for politicians to unite in restoring both politics and Parliament. He pointedly remarked that the country can only progress when the outcomes of elections are trusted and respected—calling for humility in victory and acceptance in defeat. He also praised the efforts of all candidates in the recent election, noting that the people of Pakistan have clearly rejected the politics of division and hate, embodied by Prisoner No. 804, referring to Imran Khan.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari referenced a statement made by Prisoner No. 804, which he said was a direct attack on constitutional institutions for personal political gain. He urged PTI to investigate whether the statement had indeed been made by Imran Khan and to clarify if the account was being managed by others such as Ali Amin or Mr. Marwat. Such clarification, he stressed, is crucial to maintain accountability.

In his address, Bilawal reminded the Assembly of the series of attacks on democracy that began with the no-confidence motion, a constitutionally valid and democratic act that led to Imran Khan’s removal as Prime Minister. He recounted how efforts to hold early elections before the appointment of the Army Chief were part of a larger plot to undermine democratic processes. He claimed that Imran Khan, after being presented with evidence of his own corruption by the Intelligence Chief, instead chose to remove him—a decision that set off further conspiracies to sabotage the Constitution.

In conclusion, Chairman Bilawal warned that investigations into the Form 45 debacle would soon reveal the truth, and those implicated would not be able to face the public. He urged democratic parties to remain vigilant and called on PTI to reflect on the internal forces responsible for the escalating crises that have plagued their party and the nation.
