Pakistan and China reaffirmed their commitment on Friday to protect the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) from any threats
At a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing.
“During their talks, both leaders pledged strong support on core issues and confirmed their dedication to CPEC’s high-quality development and the timely completion of ongoing projects,” Baloch said.

The FO spokesperson added that PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Chinese personnel and projects in the country.
The two nations agreed to maintain high-level exchanges and strengthen institutional links across all levels and areas of bilateral cooperation.
23 MoUs Signed to Boost Cooperation
Baloch shared that the delegation-level talks concluded with an MoU signing ceremony, attended by both premiers.
“Twenty-three MoUs and agreements were signed to enhance cooperation in transport infrastructure, industry, energy, agriculture, media, health, water, socio-economic development, and other areas of mutual interest,” she said.
The countries also signed Letters of Intent for capacity-building workshops on governance and industrial park development. Additionally, they handed over certificates for the Pak-China Friendship Hospital in Gwadar and a Desalination Plant in Gwadar.
