Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has announced the establishment of a special cell at the Governor House to follow up on criminal cases related to armed street robberies in Karachi over the past year. He made this announcement on Saturday while speaking to media after visiting the residence of Itteqa Moin, a gold medallist engineer who was shot dead by robbers last week in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, to offer condolences to the bereaved family.
Tessori stated that the special cell would collect comprehensive data on people killed in street crimes in Karachi over the last year. This includes the number of suspects apprehended by the police, the punishments given by the courts, and the instances of suspects securing bail and subsequently committing further armed street robberies. The cell will also monitor the cases of the accused who reoffend after their release.
Tessori emphasized that the proposed cell will scrutinize all street crime cases in Karachi from the past year to ensure proper follow-up and accountability.
