Instagram is currently experimenting with a feature that temporarily pauses users’ scrolling to show an ad, according to a report by Business Insider quoting a statement from a Meta spokesperson.
While this feature is only visible to select users, Meta suggests it could potentially become a permanent addition to the platform. The spokesperson mentioned that they continuously explore ad formats that offer value to advertisers and will provide updates based on their testing and learnings.
This move aligns with similar ad strategies employed by platforms like YouTube, where users on the free version encounter ads before accessing content. While Instagram previously allowed users to scroll past ads in their main feed or between stories, this new feature may alter that dynamic.
