ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy carried out an anti-narcotics operation in the North Arabian Sea, seizing 380 kilograms of highly valuable drugs, according to the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on Saturday. The seized drugs are worth thousands of dollars in the international market.
The Pakistan Navy, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, frequently conducts such narcotics seizure operations in the country’s territorial waters. Last May, it seized over 4,000 kilograms of hashish worth over $65 million in conjunction with the country’s Anti-Narcotics Force.
The recent operation, involving the PNS Yarmook, was based on intelligence and is part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to curb illegal activities, including drug trafficking, in its maritime zones. The official statement highlighted the Pakistan Navy’s effective sea surveillance as a key factor in this success.
“Pakistan Navy warships regularly perform duties to prevent drug smuggling, maritime piracy, and human trafficking at sea,” the statement added.
