Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has lauded Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s efforts in making the 26th Constitutional Amendment a reality, highlighting the establishment of constitutional courts in Sindh as a key achievement. Memon emphasized that these courts are providing much-needed relief to the people by ensuring quicker justice, especially in cases where individuals sentenced to death were later acquitted after lengthy appeals.
Speaking to the media outside the NAB court in Karachi, Memon also addressed the ongoing political landscape, criticizing Imran Khan’s actions and the state of governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) under PTI. He remarked that President Asif Ali Zardari, despite spending 12 years in jail without conviction, and other political leaders have faced the courts, underscoring the importance of maintaining faith in the judiciary.
On Imran Khan and PTI’s Authoritarian Mentality
Sharjeel Inam Memon sharply criticized Imran Khan, accusing him of exhibiting an authoritarian mentality, particularly when Khan left the court earlier, demonstrating his belief that institutions should follow his orders. He described the PTI’s approach to the Election Commission and the judiciary as disrespectful, particularly when the party’s demands were not met. According to Sharjeel Inam Memon, PTI’s approach is geared towards chaos and confrontation with institutions rather than working constructively for the country’s well-being.
Sharjeel Inam Memon further pointed out that PTI’s leadership has failed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the police are demoralized and no longer able to maintain public order. He criticized the PTI government in KP for prioritizing security for political agendas, such as the long march, over addressing the needs of the people. He accused the PTI of bowing to terrorists in the region and failing to ensure the safety and stability of its citizens.
Water Crisis and the People of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Sharjeel Inam Memon also responded to concerns about water shortages, stating that the Sindh government, under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, has consistently advocated for the implementation of the 1992 water agreement. He stressed that any deviations from this agreement would be detrimental to the people of Sindh.
On the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sharjeel Inam Memon slammed PTI for focusing on confrontations with the federal government instead of prioritizing the welfare of the people. He noted that under PTI’s leadership, the region has witnessed incidents like the APS tragedy and the Bannu jail attack, but PTI’s focus remains on destabilizing the federation, rather than addressing the root causes of terrorism and unrest in the region.
PTI’s Priorities and the International Agenda
Sharjeel Inam Memon concluded by accusing PTI of serving the interests of international lobbyists, particularly those aligned with Israel. He claimed that PTI’s actions are not in the best interest of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but rather aligned with the ambitions of one individual, Imran Khan, whose actions continue to divide and mislead the nation. Sharjeel Inam Memon urged the political leadership to adopt a positive and constructive approach, focusing on solutions rather than spreading negativity and chaos.
