U.S. State Department Acknowledges Congress Letter on Imran Khan

The U.S. State Department has confirmed receipt of a letter from 60 Congress members requesting the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. During a media briefing in Washington on Monday, State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller stated, “We will respond in due course to the members.”

The letter, sent on October 23, urged the Biden administration to advocate for human rights and democracy in Pakistan, emphasizing the need for the release of Imran Khan and other political prisoners. Additionally, the correspondence raised concerns about crackdowns on internet and social media platforms, as well as reported irregularities in recent elections.
