Pakistan Condemns Deadly Attack in Turkiye

Islamabad, Pakistan — Pakistan has strongly condemned the deadly attack that took place in Turkiye on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of at least five individuals. The Pakistani government labeled the incident a cowardly act of violence.

The assault occurred at the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) near Ankara, where two attackers opened fire, injuring 22 others in addition to the fatalities. Eyewitnesses reported hearing gunfire followed by a loud explosion. Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed that the attackers were killed during the incident and described it as a terrorist attack. He added that three of the injured are in critical condition.

Television footage captured the assailants as they stormed the facility, highlighting the chaotic nature of the attack.

In response, Pakistan’s foreign office issued a statement expressing “heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims” and wishing for a swift recovery for those injured. The statement emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering support for Turkiye’s efforts to combat terrorism, affirming solidarity with the Turkish people during this difficult time.

President Asif Ali Zardari also condemned the attack, offering his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. “We extend our deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives in this cowardly attack,” he stated.

As investigations continue, the Pakistani government remains committed to standing with Turkiye against the scourge of terrorism.
