Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, Mass Transit, Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, Sharjeel Inam Memon, stated that the establishment of constitutional courts has been a long-standing demand of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). Speaking at the inauguration of the Pakistan Sustainability Week exhibition on alternative energy at the Expo Center in Karachi, he emphasized that both the PPP and the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) had agreed on this initiative during the signing of the Charter of Democracy, and now, this demand is being implemented. Memon highlighted that the PPP is committed to delivering swift justice directly to the people.

Criticism of the Judicial System

Addressing the media, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon expressed frustration over the lengthy delays in justice, referencing the murder case of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He stated, “We still haven’t received justice for the murder of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto,” emphasizing that his assassination marked the murder of the country’s future, development, democracy, and constitution. Memon sharply criticized former Chief Justices Iftikhar Chaudhry and Saqib Nisar, stating they are a disgrace to the country’s judicial system and should no longer be referred to as former Chief Justices, calling for the revocation of their privileges.

Injustice in the Case of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon also questioned the delay in justice for Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, noting that a hearing for her murder case was only recently held after sixteen years, only to be postponed indefinitely. He condemned the courts for prioritizing less significant cases while neglecting the murder case of such an influential figure, who introduced key programs like missile technology and the Lady Health Worker program, and provided employment for thousands.

Commitment to Judicial Reform and the Constitution

Despite enduring judicial activism, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon reiterated the PPP’s respect for the judiciary, stating, “The Pakistan People’s Party has borne the brunt of judicial activism, but we have never disregarded the judiciary.” He referenced President Asif Ali Zardari, who endured 12 years of imprisonment without a crime, as an example of the PPP’s resilience and commitment to upholding the judicial system.

Promoting Alternative Energy Solutions

On a more optimistic note, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon congratulated the organizers of the Pakistan Sustainability Week exhibition, where more than 200 national and international companies showcased alternative energy technologies. He emphasized that the exhibition is a vital step toward addressing the country’s energy issues, reducing dependency on costly conventional sources, and boosting the economy by promoting trade between Pakistan and other nations.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon visited various stalls at the exhibition, praising the modern technology on display and the potential benefits for the Pakistani economy. He stressed that alternative energy could offer affordable solutions for people burdened by expensive electricity prices.
