British Pakistani boxing star Hamzah Sheeraz celebrated his monumental win in style at Wembley Stadium, as over 100,000 spectators witnessed him claim the Middleweight European Boxing title on September 21 by defeating British boxer Tyler Denny. The victory became even more special when “Dil Dil Pakistan” by Vital Signs echoed throughout the arena, as Sheeraz knocked out Denny in a powerful display.
In a thrilling match, Sheeraz dominated from the start, with a right cross and left hook combination knocking Denny down in the first round. A second knockdown followed early in the second round with a devastating left hook. The video of this moment, coupled with “Dil Dil Pakistan” playing to a capacity crowd, quickly went viral.
Speaking to Geo, Sheeraz expressed his pride in connecting with his heritage through the iconic song. Despite never having set foot in Pakistan, Sheeraz said, “Dil Dil Pakistan is part of me. This was to connect with my roots but also to connect with fellow British Pakistanis. This made the win extra special for me.”
Sheeraz also shared his gratitude, reflecting on the hard work leading up to the fight. “Winning the European title is a great feeling. After being in camp and securing a knockout win, it’s a blessing. Alhamdulillah for this huge win. I am blessed and thankful.”
His dominant performance and heartfelt connection to his heritage have made this victory an unforgettable moment in his career.
