Death Toll Rises to 71 in Bangladesh Floods; Millions Still Stranded

The death toll from the devastating floods in Bangladesh has climbed to 71, with millions of people still stranded in severely affected areas. The floods, driven by relentless monsoon rains and upstream runoff, have wreaked havoc over the past two weeks, impacting nearly five million people across 11 districts.

More than 580,000 families remain marooned, urgently needing food, clean water, medicine, and dry clothing. Nearly 500 medical teams are on the ground, supported by the army, air force, navy, and border guard in ongoing relief efforts. Authorities are now prioritizing the prevention of waterborne diseases and ensuring access to clean drinking water as the floodwaters recede.
