On the third death anniversary of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid homage to the iconic Kashmiri leader for his unwavering commitment to the rights of the oppressed people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who passed away on September 1, 2021, after years of house arrest, is remembered for his famous declaration, “We are Kashmiris and Pakistan is our country,” which continues to inspire millions.
President Zardari lauded Geelani as a symbol of hope and resistance, emphasizing his unyielding dedication to the cause of self-determination for Kashmiris despite enduring numerous hardships. “His sacrifices and tireless efforts will forever be remembered,” Zardari stated, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiri struggle.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also paid tribute, highlighting Geelani’s lifelong dedication to Kashmir’s freedom. The prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, ensuring that Geelani’s legacy and sacrifices would not be forgotten.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of continuing Geelani’s mission, vowing to persist in advocating for the Kashmiri cause on moral, diplomatic, and political fronts.
