State Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja Denies Government Role in Internet Slowdown, Blames VPN Usage Instead

Islamabad, Sunday: In response to widespread public outrage over recent internet slowdowns across the country, State Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja firmly denied any government involvement. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Khawaja assured the public, “I can swear that the government of Pakistan did not block the internet or slow it down.”

The minister attributed the slowdown to the extensive use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) by internet users. According to Khawaja, VPN usage has led to significant internet speed reductions, particularly when some applications failed to download properly, prompting users to resort to VPNs.

Khawaja emphasized that the government has been working diligently with experts to identify and resolve the issue, spending countless hours trying to address the situation. She reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring a stable and efficient internet service for all citizens.
