Amid the ongoing wave of inflation, 68% of Pakistanis have been forced to reduce their expenses, according to the latest survey by Pulse Consultant.
The survey asked participants, “What expenses have you reduced due to inflation?” The responses highlighted various areas where people are cutting back:
- Dining Out: 23% of respondents reported they have stopped going out for dinner due to rising costs.
- Leisure Activities: 14% have curtailed outings, and 2% have reduced spending on fuel.
- Personal Care: 4% of women and 2% of men have decreased spending on personal care items.
- Food Consumption: 5% reported cutting back on meat, milk, and fruit in their daily diet.
- Electricity Usage: 15% of respondents have reduced their electricity consumption.
- Grocery Shopping: Overall, 21% have scaled back their grocery spending, with 33% of women reporting the same.
- Shopping: 10% of women said they now avoid shopping trips, and 7% have stopped buying clothes and shoes.
Despite these cutbacks, 32% of respondents indicated they have not reduced their spending and continue to purchase daily commodities as before. Pulse Consultant plans to release a second round of this study later this month, focusing on urban areas to further assess the impact of inflation.
