Sindh Government Sets Target of Enrolling Over 800,000 New Students

Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah has set an ambitious target for the current academic year, aiming to enroll more than 800,000 new students across the province. This initiative is part of a broader effort to significantly improve the educational landscape in Sindh, focusing on both increasing enrollment numbers and ensuring active community participation in the process.

During an event organized by the Sindh Education Department at a private hotel in Karachi, Minister Shah outlined the new targets and strategies for achieving them. He emphasized that community involvement will be key in making the school enrollment system more effective. Shah pointed out that while the initial target is set at over 800,000 new admissions, there is potential for this number to rise to 900,000, reflecting the province’s commitment to expanding access to education.

In addition to the enrollment goals, Minister Shah announced an environmental initiative that will be integrated into the responsibilities of school headmasters. As part of this initiative, it will be mandatory for headmasters to plant trees within school premises, making environmental stewardship a core component of their duties. This move not only addresses the need for increased greenery in school environments but also instills a sense of environmental responsibility among students from a young age.

The event also saw the presentation of various proposals aimed at maintaining and further increasing school enrollment in Sindh. These proposals highlighted the importance of sustained participation from all stakeholders, including government officials, educators, and the broader community.

Minister Sardar Ali Shah’s announcements reflect a dual commitment to both educational growth and environmental sustainability, signaling a forward-thinking approach to the challenges and opportunities facing the education sector in Sindh.
