The United States Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, on Friday, praised Pakistan’s recent decision to extend the validity of Proof of Registration (PoR) cards for Afghan refugees. He reiterated Washington’s commitment to collaborating with Islamabad in supporting Afghan refugees and the Pakistani communities that host them.
In a statement, US Mission Spokesperson Jonathan Lalley shared that Ambassador Blome had a meeting with Minister of States and Frontier Regions, Amir Muqam, where he expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s longstanding tradition of hosting Afghan refugees. The Ambassador also reaffirmed the United States’ dedication to working alongside Pakistan in assisting both the Afghan refugee population and the Pakistani communities that provide them refuge.
The spokesperson further noted that Ambassador Blome commended Pakistan’s decision to extend the PoR cards’ validity for an additional year. He recognized the positive measures taken by Pakistan to address protection concerns and highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the two nations to facilitate the safe and efficient resettlement of eligible Afghans to the United States.
