BISP Chairperson Urges Caution Against Scams, Ensures Payment Transparency

In a bid to protect beneficiaries from scams, Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Rubina Khalid emphasized the importance of only trusting messages from the official project number, 8171. This advice was given during her visit to BISP payment centres in Peshawar, where she interacted with women collecting their stipends.

Key Points from Chairperson Rubina Khalid’s Visit:

  1. Official Communication: BISP Chairperson Rubina Khalid urged beneficiaries to disregard messages from any number other than 8171, highlighting that these are likely fraudulent and intended to deceive innocent people.
  2. Stipend Details: She clarified that the total amount of the quarterly tranche issued under the Benazir Kafaalat program is Rs 10,500. Beneficiaries were advised to count and receive their full amount and to request a bank receipt to ensure transparency.
  3. Reporting Issues: BISP Chairperson Rubina Khalid encouraged beneficiaries to immediately file a complaint with the BISP helpline at 080026477 if they experience any deductions from their stipend or any abuse by the staff.
  4. Facility Inspection: The chairperson inspected the payment centres established at Tamash Stadium and the UC20 office in Peshawar to review the disbursement process and the facilities provided to deserving women.
  5. Priority for Vulnerable Groups: She instructed the staff to prioritize payments to elderly women and those with young children, ensuring that these vulnerable groups are attended to promptly and efficiently.
  6. Transparency and Cleanliness: BISP Chairperson emphasized the importance of informing deserving women about their entitled amount while issuing tokens. She also stressed the need for maintaining cleanliness in the office and improving arrangements to provide a conducive environment for the beneficiaries.

The visit underscored BISP’s commitment to protecting beneficiaries from scams and ensuring a transparent and efficient payment process. Khalid’s directives aim to enhance the beneficiaries’ experience and safeguard their entitlements.
