The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a planned 12-hour gas supply suspension in certain areas of Karachi on Sunday, August 4. This interruption, set from 8 AM to 8 PM, aims to address low gas pressure issues affecting both domestic and industrial consumers in the city, according to an SSGC spokesperson.
The suspension will allow the connection of a new 20-inch diameter, 12-kilometer long gas distribution pipeline to the existing system. The affected areas include parts of Korangi, Hashmi Goth, Mansehra Colony, Allahabad Goth, and surrounding neighborhoods.
This development follows a previous 24-hour gas supply suspension in Karachi on July 28. Last Sunday’s shutdown impacted several areas, including Surjani Town, North Karachi, Manghopir Town, Qasba Town, Orangi Town, North Nazimabad, FB Area, Gulberg, Buffer Zone, SITE Industrial Area, Baldia Town, Ittehad Town, Mauripur, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Ahsanabad, Janjal Goth, and the SITE Super Highway area.
The SSGC has assured that its technical team will work diligently to restore the gas supply as quickly as possible. The company’s July 27 statement highlighted that the new pipeline would significantly improve gas pressure for industrial customers in the western region.
