On Tuesday, the Secretary of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development briefed the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development about a notable decline in the overseas employment of Pakistani laborers
The decline is primarily attributed to modernization and advanced technology in host countries, while a significant portion of the Pakistani labor force remains unskilled. Additionally, the secretary highlighted a lack of resources and insufficient skill development within the domestic labor force, which has led to workers from other countries replacing Pakistani workers.
The meeting, chaired by Senator Zeeshan Khanzada at the Parliament House, also addressed concerns regarding criminal activities among Pakistani workers abroad. Ministry officials reported that approximately 50% of crimes committed by the labor force in the UAE are reportedly by Pakistanis.
