LHC Declares Physical Remand of PTI Founder in Twelve Cases Illegal

On Friday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) issued a written order declaring that the law was violated in granting the physical remand of the PTI founder in twelve cases.

The two-member bench, comprising Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh and Justice Anwarul Haq Pannu, rendered a five-page judgment declaring the physical remand null and void.

The order cited existing high court judgments on physical remand, emphasizing that during such remand, charges must be examined by the Judicial Magistrate. If the case does not hold, the judge has the authority to discharge it.

The court reaffirmed that the Constitution grants rights to every citizen and noted that the Prosecutor General failed to satisfy the court on legal grounds. Consequently, the petitions of the PTI founder were accepted, and the physical remand was declared null and void.
