KARACHI: In response to an armed clash that resulted in the deaths of five individuals in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA), the police arrested 17 people in multiple raids conducted on Friday.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Syed Asad Raza reported that weapons were recovered from three suspects during these raids. The clash, which occurred in DHA’s Khayaban-e-Nishat, involved the Fahad Bugti group and the Ali Haider Bugti group, both relatives of the slain Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.
The victims of the clash were identified as Mir Esa Bugti, Ali, Fahad Bugti, Naseebullah, and Mir Mesum Bugti. Additionally, Mir Ali Haider Bugti and Qaim Ali sustained bullet injuries. Fahad Bugti was hit by two bullets in the chest, and his body has been handed over to his family.
DIG Raza indicated that an “old family dispute” led to the confrontation. According to reports, both groups had convened for talks, but the situation escalated when their vehicles encountered each other, resulting in an exchange of heavy gunfire. Although no first information report (FIR) has been registered yet, two cases will be filed in coordination with both groups.
Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar has taken notice of the incident and requested a detailed report from the Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi. The minister reassured that all necessary measures would be taken to uphold the law.
